The door Leaf is manufactured from two skins of 1.2 mm thick zintec steel, a durable, rust free material which provides an excellent surface for painting forming a 46 mm thick leaf. Two full height vertical interlocking seams are formed creating a very rigid box Horizontal channels within the leaf are spot welded to the inner and outer skins. The void between the skins is infilled with a honeycomb core material which is bonded to both inside faces of the zintec steel sheets. The honeycomb has great compression load performance. Capping channels are fitted to the top and bottom. The reinforcing and capping channels combine to create a very rigid leaf edge. Reinforcing plates are fitted within the leaf void to suit ironmongery options. Heavy duty hinge plates are welded to the internal hinge leaf edge for further reinforcement. A mortise lock enclosure is formed which stops any infill materials affecting the moving parts of the lockcase, and allows ease of removal for maintenance. Double doorsets have an integral astragal formed in the leading edge of one leaf, this ensures a positive seal at the centre joint
